A perfect day on the beach is hard to beat. The cool blue waters, the warm neutral sand, the steady undulation of waves glistening in the sunlight—leaving it behind for a hotel room can feel like an uncomfortable jolt back to reality.
But it doesn’t have to.
This season, Palm Beach Marriott Singer Island unveiled the fruits of its $6.8 million renovation, and it’s subtler than what you might expect. Rather than slapping on more glitz and glam, the AAA Four-Diamond resort and spa invested in something far more impactful—ambiance.
Now, when you walk into the hotel’s great room, you hardly know you’ve left the beach. Colors of sand, sea and sky shimmer in the natural light spilling in from floor-to-ceiling windows. Wood paneled columns lend coastal charm, while thoughtfully arranged furnishings offer the perfect place to relax with a drink, mingle with family and friends, and recharge your electronics.
Behind the din of casual conversation there’s the sound of water as it cascades down the opalescent mosaic tile fountain on the patio just outside.
As the sun goes down, watch the great room dim to a softer twilight as well, transforming the atmosphere from day to night.
A stop by the newly added high-top bar at the Bar and Lounge is all you need to be ready for dinner at the resort’s signature restaurant: 3800 Ocean.
Famous for outstanding cuisine inspired by South Florida’s diverse heritage, 3800 Ocean’s interior is now awash in ocean themes. The original hardwood floors were sanded and stained to a dramatic mix of light and dark, reminiscent of the deck on a vintage Chris Craft yacht. Intimate underlighting combines with patterns of natural sand and ocean blue for the feeling of dining on the beach under the stars, whether you’re inside the restaurant or dining al fresco.
The resort’s 3,600 square foot meeting and event space has been refreshed as well. From the Colonnade Ballroom, to the Flagler Boardroom, to the small fleet of business suites, each space has been updated with new carpeting and lightened walls for a more inviting feel.
However long you linger at the restaurant, SiSpa, or lounge, your own suite-style condominium in the 21-story resort will be ready to welcome you in beachy style. Upgrades include thick, luxurious carpeting, cotton-white walls, and downy soft furnishings that make your room with a view feel as coastal within as it looks from without.
Each of Palm Beach Marriott’s thoughtful renovations has brought a little more of the beach inside. With its coastal color palate, breezy charm and abundant natural light, the resort’s seaside style keeps the ocean experience that travelers crave alive at all hours of the day, rain or shine.
So the next time you simply must go down to the seas again, go where its influence extends well over the dunes, up the boardwalks, and through every part of your vacation.
Then just roll with the tide.
